Travelers Cyber Risk Services
The digital risk landscape is always shifting. Ransomware, data theft and exploitation of software vulnerabilities are changing constantly—and many organisations feel like they’re racing to stay a step ahead of the latest threat. The risks have become reality for many businesses: four in 10 firms have suffered at least one cyber attack over the past five years, according to one survey of businesses in the UK and Ireland.1 Over half of Irish firms say they are increasing their spending on cyber risk protections.2
The climate is especially daunting for small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that lack the resources and scale to recover from a cyber attack. In another recent survey, 28% of Irish SMEs said they would be at risk of shutting down after just one ransomware attack.3
To support clients in this environment, Travelers is relaunching our Cyber Risk Services. This enhanced suite of risk management solutions helps businesses proactively strengthen their resilience against cyber threats. These services, which are available to Travelers CyberRisk policyholders at no additional charge, combine real-time monitoring, expert support and training to help organisations prevent attacks and recover quickly when incidents occur.
“Travelers Cyber Risk Services offers clients practical, personalised guidance to help them stay ahead of threats and reduce the chance of operational, financial, and reputational damage,” said James Doswell, Cyber Senior Risk Management Consultant at Travelers Europe. “We’re offering support tailored to how each business actually runs, so an organisation can move from reacting to threats to actively managing and mitigating them.”
Comprehensive cyber threat monitoring and alerts
Cyber threats often evolve without warning. Organisations that lack the ability to monitor and interpret global threat activity can be caught by surprise. Travelers Cyber Risk Services includes Always-On Threat Monitoring and Alerts to help close this gap by continuously analysing trusted intelligence from dozens of first- and third-party sources, including the dark web.
When a new vulnerability or threat is identified, Travelers sends same-day, personalised alerts highlighting the risk and providing clear, step-by-step guidance tailored to the policyholder’s specific systems. This prevents clients from having to wade through large volumes of irrelevant data and provides insights that matter most to their environment.
The impact is measurable. On average, Travelers policyholders receive two weeks’ advance notice before alerted threats are exploited, giving them a critical window to take action. Clients who receive alerts patch affected systems three times faster*, significantly reducing their likelihood of experiencing business interruption or a costly claim.
*Based on a 2023 internal study comparing data on when vulnerabilities were identified and policyholders were alerted, against the dates those vulnerabilities were known to be exploited.
Real-world impact: a ransomware attack prevented
One Travelers client saw the impact of this protection when our internal risk management team discovered their virtual private network (VPN) credentials being sold on a dark-web marketplace. Within minutes of the discovery, Travelers notified both the broker and the client. The organisation took its VPN offline to isolate the threat, and Travelers supported implementation of multi-factor authentication across all accounts. As a result, the business avoided a major ransomware attack, preventing operational disruption, reputational damage, and an estimated €250,000+ loss.
Threat Alerting in Action
Policyholder VPN is Compromised.
Within minutes Travelers sent an email alert and a Travelers Risk Advisor called the policy holder and broker.
VPN is taken offline to investigate the incident.
Risk Advisor works with the policyholder to get MFA set up on VPN accounts.
€ 250k, Major ransomware claim averted at an estimated cost of circa €250,000.
“Fast detection and clear remediation guidance can make all the difference for businesses managing cyber threats,” said Doswell. “It reduces downtime, financial loss, and the overall risk of serious incidents.”
Expert cyber guidance when you need it most
Cyber risk management requires a coordinated approach—not only during a crisis, but before and after incidents as well. Travelers provides policyholders with direct access to in-house cyber specialists who offer personalised guidance whenever needed.
This support begins with policy onboarding. Soon after a policy is in effect, the cyber services team connects with clients to introduce available services, review their current security posture, and highlight areas of heightened exposure. This early engagement helps organisations understand coverage, prioritise improvements, and activate services that strengthen their defences from day one.
Throughout the policy term, Travelers’s experts remain available to answer questions, interpret emerging threats, or advise on the most effective security investments. Their practical insights make it easier for clients to understand vulnerabilities and reduce risks before an incident occurs.
Should an event arise, our 24/7 breach support hotline connects clients immediately with specialist first-response teams to ensure they access the right support quickly. After an incident, Travelers provides tailored post-event consultations to help clients understand what occurred and reinforce their security to prevent recurrence. This holistic approach builds long-term resilience and reduces the likelihood of repeated claims.
Building cyber resilience through preparation
While technology plays a powerful role in threat defence, people and planning are equally critical. Travelers provides resources that help clients build a strong security culture and prepare for unexpected events.
Employee awareness training enhances understanding of phishing, social engineering, and other common attack methods—reducing the risk of accidental compromise. Meanwhile, incident response and business continuity templates provide a practical foundation for preparing organisational response plans.
Clients also receive insights on evolving attack approaches, new vulnerabilities, and emerging trends. By combining proactive education, practical planning tools, and expert advisory, Travelers empowers organisations to take meaningful steps toward stronger resilience.
Stay ahead of evolving threats
Travelers has found that the best approach to managing cyber risk combines insurance expertise with cutting-edge cyber intelligence to create a holistic approach to protection.
We’ve paired real-time threat monitoring with human-led guidance and training. This helps our clients take action before threats escalate—and recover confidently when incidents occur.
